Appeal for help to trace man who went missing from hospital amid concerns for welfare

An appeal has been issued to identify and trace a man who left hospital without being properly assessed following concerns for his welfare.

Greater Glasgow Police Division tweeted yesterday (Sunday) evening: "We're appealing for information to help identify and trace a man who left a hospital without being fully assessed by medical staff.

"The man had been taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance staff on Sunday, 24 October, following concerns for his own welfare and he left around 1.30pm while he was being initially assessed.

"He failed to provide any identification details and was last seen heading towards Glasgow city centre. He is described as white, around 20, heavy build, black hair with dark facial hair/beard. He was last seen wearing a tartan checked shirt, blue jeans and grey shoes."

Inspector Ryan Curran, based at Govan, said: "We have been working with hospital staff to try and help them identify the man. They are keen to speak to him because they're concerned for his welfare.

"We would appeal to anyone who has seen a man matching our description or has any relevant information to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 2088 of 24 October.

"I would also appeal to the man himself to contact us to let us know he is okay."
