Appeal for group who spoke to victim with broken jaw after Belfast City Centre assault

Police are appealing for a group of people to come forward after they spoke with the victim of an assault in Belfast last year.

In the early hours of May 9, 2021, it was reported that a man suffered a broken jaw following a "vicious" assault in the Victoria Square area.

Following the incident a group of men and women spoke with the victim before he was taken away to hospital.

Police are now appealing to speak with this group as part of their investigation, along with anyone else who may have witnessed the attack.

Sergeant Brown said: “We are specifically appealing to a group of men and women who were in their 20s who spoke to the victim after the assault took place.

“It was reported that sometime between 1am and 2am a man was viciously attacked by another man resulting in severe facial injuries.

“The victim attended hospital as it transpired that he had suffered a broken jaw which required four steel plates.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in the Victoria Square area of the city centre at the time this assault took place and may have offered assistance to the victim to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 429 08/06/22.”
