Appeal for family of former Wigan man who died suddenly to come forward

Police are appealing for information to help find the next of kin of a former Wigan man who died suddenly.

Ian Sumner, 54, was found dead at his home in Hull on Saturday (January 23).

Despite extensive work, Humberside Police say they have been unable to locate his next of kin.

They are appealing for anyone who may be able to help locate Mr Sumner's next of kin to get in touch.

Officers say Mr Sumner also had links to Stretford, where he was born, and Wigan, where he lived previously.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Humberside Police said: "We are appealing to help locate the next of kin for 54 year old Ian Sumner.

"Ian lived on Westcott Street, Hull, but sadly died at his home on Saturday, January 23. He also has links to Stretford, where he was born, and Wigan as he lived there previously.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and despite extensive work we have not been able to locate Ian’s next of kin.

"If you can help us please call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 133 of 23 January 2021."
