Appeal as driver aged 77 dead in mystery smash near car showroom

A 77-year-old man has died in a crash near to a car showroom.

Only his car was involved in the incident just after dark on Friday night.

It happened close to an Arnold Clark main dealer in Linwood.

Traffic police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene in Pegasus Avenue just before 6pm.

He had been driving his grey Honda Jazz when it happened.

The street has a number of Arnold Clark dealerships including a Honda franchise.

Police Sergeant Jon Mochan of the Road Policing Unit in Glasgow said :

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the relevant time.

“ Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we would also like to hear from anyone who may have dash cam footage which may assist our enquiries.”

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4540 of Friday, 29 January, 2021.”
