Appeal after woman is seriously assaulted at Airdrie taxi rank

Police are appealing for information after a woman was hospitalised after a serious assault in Airdrie town centre at the weekend.

The 46-year-old sustained a serious facial injury after being punched.

The incident happened around 10.45pm at the taxi rank on Stirling Street on Saturday (July 10) and she was taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable David Williamson told Lanarkshire Live : "This was a serious assault.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened, particularly if they were in the taxi queue or walking past at the time.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area and has dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101. Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
