Appeal after woman found dead in Liverpool house

A 43-year-old woman was found dead at her Liverpool home on Wednesday.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Claire Gilbert, of River Avon Street, Toxteth.

Liverpool and Wirral Coroner's Office is now appealing for help in finding the family of Miss Gilbert.

Last year, at least 11 people died in Merseyside where police were unable to trace their family.

In some cases, the absence of family meant people were buried in a public health funeral.

A small but dedicated team at Liverpool City Council organise these events, which include a hearse and a celebrant to mark the person's passing.

Anyone who can help the Coroner identify or trace any potential next of kin should call Katy Porter 0151 233 0130 or email katy.porter@liverpool.gov.uk.
