Appeal after stolen Singleton car crashed through Branxton fence

GENERIC, NSW police, police badge,

POLICE are seeking the occupants of a stolen vehicle that crashed through a Hunter fence in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called to Bridge Street at Branxton about 1.30am on Saturday after reports of suspicious activity.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District arrived to find a man standing beside a Holden utility.

Subsequent checks showed the vehicle had been reported stolen from a Singleton address earlier in the evening, police said.

As police approached, the car drove off along Russell Street and Railway Street.

A pursuit began when it failed to stop, but police quickly called it off due to safety concerns.

They found the car abandoned and on its side a short time later in a paddock near Standen and Corinda drives after it struck a fence.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the occupants of the crashed utility.

They established a crime scene and seized several items that will undergo forensic examination.

Investigations are calling for anyone who may have seen the vehicle, or who may have information, to contact Singleton police on 6578 7499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
