Appeal after six people seriously injured in Bolton crash

Police are appealing for information after six people were seriously injured in a car crash.

The patients, all in their 20s, were travelling in two VW Golf cars when they crashed on Lostock Lane in Bolton on Wednesday evening.

A 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, who were travelling in the first Golf, suffered serious injuries.

They are still in hospital in a 'stable condition' following the 6.30pm smash, police said.

A 21-year-old man, 22-year-old man and two 23-year-old men in the second Golf were also taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Two of the men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The remaining two are still in hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives are investigating whether the crash is linked to an earlier incident, in which a parked BMW car was damaged on the same road.

The offenders drove off in a VW Golf, police said.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incidents, or who has dash-cam footage from the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det Sgt Craig Wallace of GMP’s Bolton District on 0161 856 5757, quoting incident number 2554 of August 14.

Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
