Appeal after family attacked and injured in the city centre as they walked to their car

A family were attacked by a man as they walked to their car in the city centre.

A man in his 40s, a woman in her 30s and a teenage girl – were walking towards their parked car on Trinity Way in the Strangeways area when they were approached by a man who tried to get in their vehicle.  

The man attacked the family before fleeing on foot, at around 10.40pm on Tuesday, February 19.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police attended and the victims were taken to hospital for treatment. They have since been disharged and are recovering at home.

The man was left with hand injuries, while the woman suffered injuries to her face.

The girl was left with concussion.

Officers have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to as part of their enquiries and are appealing for information.

Anyone with information that could assist with GMP’s investigation is asked to contact police on 0161 856 1146 or 101 quoting incident number 2318 of 19/02/2019.

Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
