Appeal after 'distressed' teenage girl turns up at police station in Kent amid 'unusual set of circumstances'

An appeal for information has been issued after a "distressed" teenage girl walked into a police station in Kent.

Police say the young girl arrived at Gravesend police station at 7.20pm on January 19 in what they described as an "unsual set of circumstances"

The girl, who was described as black and wearing red jeans, a black hooded coast and black and white trainers, is safe and well but officers are trying to understand the circumstances of her whereabouts before she reached the police station.

She is thought to have asked members of the public directionsto the nearest police station.

Detective Constable Rob Sircar, of Kent Police, said: "This is an unusual set of circumstances and we are making enquiries to establish where the girl may have been staying and under what conditions.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the girl walking or those who spoke to her."
