Appeal after boy, 13, hit by car with man arrested on suspicion of drug driving

Police have issued a witness appeal after a 13-year-old boy on a bike was hit by a car on a zebra crossing.

The crash happened on Manor Avenue in Sale, near the junction with Ruskin Drive, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday (April 5). Police said the boy was riding over the zebra crossing on his bike when he was hit by a black Audi A3.

He was taken to hospital from the scene with a head injury and has since been discharged. A man - aged 26 - was arrested on the scene on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

He has been released under investigation, police said. Officers now want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, or might have footage of it.

PC Matt Leigh, of GMP's Road Policing Unit, said: "A boy attended hospital as a result of this collision and we wish him all the best for a full recovery. If anyone witnessed this collision or has any dashcam footage please get in touch with police as soon as possible."
