Fans of the singer turned into sleuths since the release of her new song, which dropped on Friday, June 9. It appears the sexy lyrics point to the Euphoria star, and everyone's taking to social media to find out more... So what do we know?
What happened between Rosalía and Hunter Schafer?
Rosalía and Hunter's friendship was in high gear back in 2019 when the duo hung out a lot and attended events together. Also that year, Rosalía accepted the Rising Star Award at the 2019 Billboard Women in Music event—and took Hunter along for the ride.
"Thanks to my friend Hunter. Thank you for coming tonight, for joining me. I love you so much," she said while on stage.
Fast-forward to 2023. Now that the ultra-catchy "Tuya" is here, and listeners caught on to female pronouns throughout the track, they're starting to suspect there's a deeper meaning behind the ballad, one that references their somewhat fleeting relationship.
So... did Rosalía and Hunter Schafer ever date?
While neither party has confirmed these speculations, a Twitter thread in Spanish read: "Rosalía's next single 'TUYA' hides a VERY special dedication. She tells us the story of a night of passion between her and someone who was very important in her life: Hunter Schafer."
The writer of the thread also points out that Rauw Alejandro (Rosalía's fiancé) has a song in which he mentions a new girl he's dating who's bisexual but who's actually more into girls. They also mention that in her new song, Rosalía mentions a guy who was 'lucky' to find her—maybe because she was usually more interested in girls.

Some social media users took to their feeds to express their shock and excitement, while others posted documentation of the duo out and about in years past, from meetups in public to Met Gala appearances. According to Cosmopolitan España the lyrics in question that brought us back to East Highland's Jules Vaughn: " Just tonight I'm yours, yours. Just tonight you're mine, mine."
At the time Rosalía and Hunter were meant to be close in 2019, there were also rumors that Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike were dating, but seemingly broke up a year later.
