Appalling piles of mess left outside student houses

More images have emerged of appalling mess left outside student properties in Liverpool.

People living in parts of Wavertree have described a 'trail of filth' left behind outside student properties in the area.

Many students left the area last week, with overflowing bins, scattered rubbish and furniture seen all over streets in areas like Picton.

While much of that has now been cleared by Liverpool Council, more images have been shared with the ECHO of mess left in the area behind Callow Road in Picton this week.

A frustrated resident got in touch to say: "These pictures are of the entry to the rear of Cretan Road and Callow Road, taken this lunchtime (Monday July 5).

Suggesting the mess had been left outside student properties in the area, they added: "No hired skips, no other disposal methods, just dump in the entry and leave it to the residents!"

This is the latest in a long line of complaints from people living around student properties in the Wavertree area.

The ECHO has already published a number of shocking images of mess, fly tipping and discarded furniture in the area.

And that comes after weeks of noise complaints amid non-stop partying in the area following the end of the university term.

Sharing images of the mess left behind in the Picton area last week, a spokesperson for the Lawrence Road Residents Action Group said: "Walking home, we felt incensed as we navigated the detritus of disrespect. Remnants of students’ excess, scattered with little concern, alongside builders’ waste and more gutted homes. The evidence of greed and disregard all around.

"After yet another year of anti-social behaviour, students leave a trail of filth in their wake, the final act of contempt for our community, before they head off into the world.

"We want to thank the good ones. The ones who engaged respectfully during their time here, and were valued members of our community. It’s a shame the others let the side down so spectacularly."
