What’s Going To Happen
It’s the first game of the Eliah Drinkwitz era at Appalachian State, and it’s not like there’s any pressure or anything – just win the Sun Belt title again and come up with another special season.
The Mountaineers get to ease their way into the season with East Tennessee State this week and Charlotte to follow before going to North Carolina. First, though, they have to look sharp against a decent Buc team.
ETSU has its quarterback with Coastal Carolina Chance Thrasher a nice passer who’ll be able to test the new ASU starting corners. There’s going to be just enough of a pass rush from the Buc defensive front, though, won’t be able to do much against the veteran Mountaineer offensive line that’s going to be a killer.
The loaded ASU team will make this easy throughout. ETSU won’t be steamrolled over, but it won’t be able to keep up the pace with a pass defense that won’t be able to keep the great Mountaineer receiving corps in check.
