Apartment scheme for former S4C headquarters on Cathedral Road in Cardiff

The first headquarters building of Welsh language channel S4C on Cathedral Road in Cardiff is being turned into a residential scheme.

The Victorian built 32 Cathedral Road  and a modern office section at the rear of the building leading into Sophia Gardens, is being turned into scheme providing 17 apartments.

The scheme,  which will see the listed property refurbished and the rear offices demolished, already has resolution to grant planning consent subject to a 106 agreement.

The buildings, owned by Suffolk Life Development, are now being marketed to developers to take the residential scheme forward, by Cardiff-based property advisory firm Fletcher Morgan.

Resolution to grant planning was secured by WYG.

The scheme would see a mix of apartments with car parking consisting of: six one bedroom apartments, seven with two bedrooms and four with three bedrooms.

Subject to a 106 agreement with Cardiff Council work on the apartment scheme could start this summer and take 12 months to complete.

The site served as S4C’s first headquarters when it launched in the early 1980s.
