Apartment on Kilgour Avenue snapped up for $1.6m

SNAPPED UP: This top-floor, three-bedroom apartment overlooking Bar Beach Bowling Club and the ocean was secured within two weeks for $1.6 million.

A three-bedroom apartment on the top floor of the Parkview complex at 3/24 Kilgour Avenue in Merewether has been secured within two weeks on the market.

George Rafty, of First National Newcastle City, listed the property with a guide of $1.3 million to $1.4 million but quickly adjusted it to $1.4 million to $1.5 million after attracting strong early interest.

The property looked out over Bar Beach Bowling Club and to the ocean. It sold for $1.6 million on Monday.

It was one of two recent sales within footsteps of each other. A three-bedroom townhouse at 2/32 Kilgour Avenue marketed by PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Chasse Ede and Natalie Tonks sold for an undisclosed sum that is believed to have been within its guide of $2.7 million to $3 million.

PRD's Tom Lemke reported 23 offers for a two-bedroom house on a block of around 303 square metres at 68 Roe Street, Mayfield that sold prior to auction for $790,000.

It was listed with an initial guide of $600,000 which was adjusted to $650,000.

There were eight registered bidders for a three-bedroom home at 17 Grey Street, Wickham that he marketed with a guide of $895,000 and sold for $1.07 million at auction last weekend.

In Kotara, a three-bedroom house at 235 Park Avenue that was marketed by Belle Property Lake Macquarie with a guide of $750,000 was secured in 12 days for $805,000.
