Aon to take up ninth floor of Capella building in Glasgow

Professional services group Aon has signed up for office space at the Capella building in the financial services district of Glasgow.

The London-based international firm - which offers a range of services from accountancy to M&A advice and risk management - will take up 10,904 sq ft of grade A accommodation on the 9th floor.

They join existing tenants including law firm MacRoberts, which recently extended its lease until 2029, and French IT giant Atos, which has extended its lease until 2024.

The building on York Street, which has views over the Clyde, is being refurbished with new shower and changing facilities, extra bicycle racks and an EV charging point.

Capella was bought for £43.5 million in 2017 by Northern Irish investor Wirefox, which was advised on the letting by Savills and joint agent CBRE.

Colin McGhee, associate director at Savills, said: “The premier letting demonstrates the strong demand for office space within Broomielaw. Capella is particularly attractive due to the high-quality building sitting at the centre of the financial district in Glasgow, providing quick and easy access to a wide range of business, leisure and shopping facilities, including convenient rail and motorway access.

“Broomielaw has become the new business quarter in Glasgow and continues to see global businesses attracted to the area, evidenced by JP Morgan Chase and HMRC recently announcing its new office developments in the area.”

Michael Wright, Wirefox director of asset management, said, “We’re delighted to have secured Aon as a new tenant at Capella. The local area is a hive of activity and with our recent upgrade works, Capella is a highly attractive location for high calibre businesses to flourish.”
