AOL expected to offer IMAP e-mail

"America Online this week is expected to announce a new feature that will let subscribers access their e-mail through third-party applications such as Eudora and Microsoft's Outlook, the company confirmed Tuesday. Called Open Mail Access, the feature can be used on any e-mail software that supports Internet Message Access Protocol, which lets applications access e-mail off other servers," reports CNet.
