Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene is on a "revenge tour" against her party after President Donald Trump blocked her ambitions of running for the Senate in Georgia.
Speaking on TikTok, the Democratic lawmaker addressed recent criticism from Greene to her own party, especially during the government shutdown.

"People are like 'oh my god, she's saying all these things, what's gotten into her lately.' She's bucking against Trump, the administration. Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for the Senate in Georgia. She wanted to be the Republican nominee. She was gearing up for that statewide race and Trump told her no. Trump said no. And the White House and Trumpland shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene's personal ambitions to run for Senate and she has been on a revenge tour ever since," Ocasio-Cortez said.
Greene has fiercely criticized Republicans, claiming in October that parts of Trump's agenda during the second term seem to be "America Last," rather than first.
Speaking to Axios, Greene said "it's a revolving door at the White House of foreign leaders when Americans are, you know, screaming from their lungs."
"If me saying those things are considered breaking with my party, then what is the Republican Party? I thought we were America First?" the lawmaker added.
The outlet noted that Greene did praise Trump repeatedly during the interview, but said the administration is largely focusing on foreign wars, which contradict what she claims are MAGA principles.
"Inflation skyrocketed under the Biden administration. But it's like, okay, well, now we're in charge, and when are we working on this?" she said in a passage of the interview.
A week prior she had claimed Republicans don't have plans for health care and should be working on addressing the issue: "When it comes to the point where families are spending anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000 a month and looking at hikes coming on their insurance premiums, I think that's unforgivable," she said.
House Speaker Mike Johnson rejected the claim, saying the lawmaker does not serve on committees that deal with health care "and she's probably not read in on some of that."
Other Republicans have escalated their criticism. Politico detailed in a report that Republicans believe her dissent could fracture the party's efforts to pressure Democrats into accepting their demands to fund the government.
Several high-profile lawmakers have criticized Greene publicly. Last Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz said her stance is part of a larger trend.
"What I've found is that whenever an elected official decides that they are going to turn on Israel and hate Israel, you will very quickly see every other policy out of their mouth become very very liberal. And so suddenly Marjorie is for massive government spending and taxes, open borders and amnesty. Ok fine, that's not where the American people are. Where they are is very simple: we are on day 29 of the stupidest shutdown" Cruz said in an interview with CNBC's Squawk Box.
