'Anything he wants to be' - Oxford boss excited by Marcus McGuane arrival from Nottingham Forest

Marcus McGuane has the ability to be anything he wants to be, according to manager Karl Robinson.

The Nottingham Forest youngster, who joined the Reds last season from Barcelona, will spend the new season on loan at League One side Oxford United, and boss Robinson admits he can’t wait to see the 21-year-old in action.

“He can be just about anything he wants to be”, Robinson told the United website.

“He is still very young but what a journey to have been on even at his age.

“He can play a defensive role or as more of an attacking midfielder and we can’t wait to work with him.”

McGuane has linked up with the U’s pre-season training camp in Wales, and says he hopes the regular games will give him a chance to play regular football and impress, with his progress closely monitored by Forest.

“I’m buzzing to be with such a great club,” he said.

“I have been made to feel very welcome and can't wait to get started. The aim is to get regular games and push on from there.

“Training has been hard so far but I’ve really enjoyed it and you can see there are some really good players here.

“The Gaffer has been brilliant and I know what is expected when you pull on the yellow shirt so I am determined to make the most of this opportunity.”
