Only the debate in Scottish football is fevered for now as the coronavirus crisis grips.
That's a blessing after the SFA and SPFL have followed the lead of almost every other league in Europe and postponed domestic football indefinitely.
It leaves the whole issue of promotion, relegation, European and play-off places up for debate, with this weekend’s Old Firm fixture the first high profile sporting casualty.
What now for the Premiership title? It seems churlish to argue over the award of a sporting contest, but Hotline callers are determined to have their say.
Brian Quinn, Paisley: “I’m no fan of Scott Brown , but any Rangers fan who claims they wouldn’t be demanding the title if they were 13 points clear is embarrassing themselves.
“The only fair way to settle it is to give the title to the team who have proven themselves to be the best till that point of the season.”
James Hamilton, Cardonald: “The right thing to do is give Celtic the title. Even if Rangers had won on Sunday and defeated St Johnstone in their game in hand, Celtic would still be seven points clear.”

Derek McDowall, Newton Mearns: “The authorities should go with the status quo - whoever is leading in each of the divisions should be declared champions.
“I wonder if clubs will also consider refunding fans who have paid a lot of money booking flights, tickets and accommodation for forthcoming matches?”
Gordon Ashley, Ayr: “Rangers fans dreaming that a virus can do what their team isn’t good enough to achieve should pipe down. Leagues that are not completed will be finished in the summer with the Euros cancelled.”
However, as expected, there are contrary points of view - and not just from Rangers fans.
Scott Gowers, Edinburgh: “An uncompleted league can’t be awarded to any team.”
Allan McGaw, Alloa: “They should forget the whole thing and start again next season. I know Celtic fans will not be happy with that point of view, but health is most important.”
Peter Anderson, East Kilbride: “League titles can’t possibly be awarded while there is still a mathematical chance others could win. Sporting integrity and all that.”
John Scott, via email: “The league can’t be awarded to a team until it’s mathematically impossible for another side to win it.”

Tommy Gibson, Wester Hailes: “I’m a Hearts fans and although things haven’t been looking good under Daniel Stendel recently, there’s no way a decision can be made to relegate us.
“The whole financial future of our club is at stake here. I would expect Ann Budge to mount a stout legal defence if they tried to put us down when the relegation issue is still in the mix.”
Tom Smith, Hamilton: “Scott Brown says if games aren’t completed, Celtic should be crowned champions. Under no circumstances should that be allowed to happen.
“What else? Give Celtic the Scottish Cup as well because they’re the best team left in the competition? I’m a Liverpool fan, by the way, so have more to lose as a football supporter than most.”
Alex Matthews, Dundee: “United are coasting to the championship, but I wouldn’t be comfortable with my team being declared champions without fixtures being fulfilled. It strikes straight at the heart of sporting fairness.”
Alan Stephens, Glenrothes: “The authorities will never have a better chance to restructure Scottish football for the benefit of all. Let’s have two leagues of 16 going forward, which would resolve many of the issues around promotion and relegation.”
UEFA were first to react on a day of drama when they pulled the plug on all next week’s Europa League and Champions League fixtures.
Frank McFerren, Carrickfergus: “The powers that be have done Rangers a favour by postponing the match in Leverkusen. The Germans are a very classy team who would knock four or five past them.”

Borna Barisic reckoned Rangers could have won by three goals in the Bay Arena and progressed to the last eight, but we’re unlikely to find out any time soon.
George Wilson, West Sussex: “Well done Rangers for going so far in Europe and doing better than last year’s Champions League finalists, Spurs and Liverpool, and also the mighty Celtic.
“It was also refreshing to have games refereed properly for a change. Week after week, Rangers are penalised by the appalling standard of the referees in Scotland.”
Harry Fitzpatrick, Ontario: “So Stevie G throws another of his players under the bus again, with his comments on Matt Polster at Leverkusen’s third. It’s very unprofessional again from this over rated coach.”
Barriemore Barlow, Bowling: “It’s very unfair and inaccurate for Gerrard to dig out Polster for not taking one for the team. Connor Goldson, his favourite, actually ducked as the ball headed goalwards. Fact.”
