Anxious mum says husband of 11 years has never seen her without make-up on

A self-conscious mum has shocked the internet after revealing her husband of eleven years has never seen her without make-up on.

The anxious woman told mumsnet.com she suffered from chronic skin conditions which left her feeling too ashamed to be seen without having her face done.

The mum said she sleeps with make up on and even sneaks out of the shower with a towel over her face to hide her skin.

She said: "Am I the only woman in the UK whose husband has NEVER seen them completely without makeup? Been together 11 years."

Main reason why is I have roscea, acne scars, awful redness and uneven skin. I hate it and try and hide it as much as possible so I can honestly say he's never without even a bit of foundation on."

Her post shocked other mums who replied in disbelief.

One said: What about when you're in bed? Or getting out of a bath or shower? How has he never seen you without makeup?"

You go to sleep with foundation on?? (or do you sleep in separate beds.) I seldom wear make up, my husband prefers no make up or at least doesn't appreciate make up," added another.

The mum replied that even when going to bed, she wears tinted moisturiser to hide her natural complexion, adding: "He hasn't seen me get out the shower without me sneakily covering my face with towel."

But worried mums told the woman her refusal to remove her make-up at night would most likely be contributing to her bad skin issue.

One said: If you're sleeping with it on then it won't be doing your skin any favours.

Another said: "I'd be concerned about sleeping in even tinted moisturiser.

Your skin isn't getting a break and that'll make any flare ups worse."

The embarrassed mum replied: "You're probably right. I just can't."

Other users encouraged the mum to be brave and show her husband her bare face, saying: "Ah it sounds quite pressured for you. He’s your spouse and loves you, it’s a shame you feel so insecure around him."
