'Anxious and subdued' Prince Harry sought comfort from Meghan at royal reunion, says expert

Prince Harry's emotions fluctuated between anxious and subdued as he joined his family for his first royal engagement since quitting The Firm, a body language expert has claimed.

He walked into St Paul's Cathedral hand in hand with wife Meghan Markle for the Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving.

Judi James told The Mirror that the Queen's grandson sought comfort in Meghan, which she offered my placing her hand on his back before they took their seats.

She believes the Duchess's behaviour was "perfect" despite concerns her of tensions with her in-laws following her bombshell claims in her Oprah Winfrey interview.

Judi said: "With Charles and Camilla appearing oblivious to any undercurrents of possible drama it looked left to Kate and Meghan to supply rock-like firmness and support to their apparently still-warring husbands.

"Meghan’s appearance was as perfect as it could have been under difficult circumstances. Her posture was upright and her smile was designed for a calm but low-key appearance.

"While Harry’s emotions and behaviour seemed to fluctuate between subdued and anxious and odd moments of fun break-outs that looked like another symptom of inner anxiety or tension, Meghan used a small touch on his back as what looked like the only other PDA than their signature hand clasp."

Looking closely at Harry and William's movements during the event, she said there was nothing to suggest a thawing in their frosty relationship.

She continues: "So far there have been no ‘moments’ between the brothers to signal acknowledgment or a hint of any restoration of their friendship bonding.

"Harry looked firmly resigned to the back row here and was not sitting behind his brother as he was for the last service of remembrance."

But she believes he seemed happier once the service had ended and he joined his cousin Zara, who he is very close to, outside.

She said: "Harry’s expression did suggest some relief as he joked with Zara as he searched for his car on the way out and he threw a wide, open-mouthed grin in her direction from the pews, but otherwise he fell into a haunted eye expression with some rapid blinking to suggest inner anxiety, leaning in and down to Meghan when she spoke as though keen to get some support."
