The Australian National University has reached the grand age of 75 and everyone is invited to celebrate.
The campus will host a range of tours, exhibitions and talks today and Monday to commemorate the past and gaze into the institution's future.
And there will be cake. A six-layer chocolate mud cake with salted caramel buttercream and 1500 cupcakes baked by celebrity chef Bella Jakubiak, in fact.
The past winner of My Kitchen Rules and co-host of Kitchen Rescue figured the ANU has the Midas touch and so the cake will be covered in gold.
"Everyone's going to get a little taste of that joy that people have been missing for a long time," Jakubiak said.
She felt the devastating impact of COVID-19 when she found herself homeless for a period.
"You can be educated, hardworking, have a job and next minute you've got nothing," she said.
Stories from the ANU's past will be shared though a living history project led by historian Daniel Oakman from the research school of social science.
"The vice-chancellor didn't want another book," Dr Oakman said.
"He wanted something different, something much more dynamic and engaging, something that had a more organic approach to the history."
The result is an interactive website where people can explore stories and photos from the university's history and instantly share their own.
The ANU Explorer site showcases achievements of staff but also the rich history of student activism and cultural events on campus.
The ANU Bar and Refectory was an important touring stop for Australian and international bands, including Nirvana, Cold Chisel, INXS, Silverchair and the Whitlams.
"I think for a lot of people in Canberra that might be a major memory of the ANU," Dr Oakman said.
"It's over to the ANU community now to hopefully be able to respond and dig through their bottom drawers and find all those gems that really haven't made it into public collections and tell those stories."
