Antrim Road: Roads closed as police attend two crashes in North Belfast

Police closed a section of a North Belfast road following a crash on Wednesday afternoon.

Part of the Antrim Road has been closed from Glendore Avenue to Alexandra Park Avenue following the a single vehicle collision which took place shortly after 1pm today.

It is understood that the incident took place close to the Tesco near Jubilee Avenue.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that the Antrim Road, north Belfast is currently closed between Alexandra Park Avenue and Glandore Avenue following a single vehicle road traffic collision this afternoon (Wednesday, August 11th). Diversions are in place, please seek alternate routes for your journey."

The road has now reopened.

The incident comes as another collision has also been reported on the Shore Road close to Seaview.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the areas until both incidents are cleared.

Trafficwatch NI said on social media: "North Belfast Police have confirmed two RTC A2 Shore Road at Seaview and A6 Antrim Road at Jubilee Avenue Tesco - expect delays."
