Antrim road assault leaves man with head injury

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was reportedly assaulted by a group of men in North Belfast .

Police received a report just after 4am this morning, Sunday, September 15 that a man was assaulted close to Atlantic Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a large cut to his head.

Officers believe the suspects made off in the direction of the Cavehill Road.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are investigating a report of an assault on the Antrim Road in north Belfast during the early hours of this morning, Sunday 15 September.

"Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the incident to please contact officers in Tennent Street Police Station on 101, quoting reference 436 15/09/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
