Antrim Coast Half Marathon to feature over 20 Olympians for rescheduled event

A glittering field featuring over 20 Olympians is heading to the P&O Ferries Antrim Coast Half Marathon next month.

The hugely popular event is due to take place on the rescheduled date of Saturday, September 12 after previously been postponed.

There are some stellar names due to appear including five-time Olympian and former World, European and Commonwealth medallist Jo Pavey.

The quickest female in the race at 68.13 is Gemma Steel who is a former European Champion and who finished seventh in the World Half Marathon.

Gladys Ganiel and Jessica Craig will be representing the local Northern Ireland interest in the race.

The international event will include some of the top British and Irish distance runners who will take on a new route which is being billed as one of the fastest in Europe.

The event will be held under strict Covid-19 safety measures and started in waves of 30 starting by time zones.

Other elite runners confirmed include Aly Dixon, Nick McCormick and Ben Connor who is the fastest man in the race and winner of the Murcia Half Marathon 2020.

The half marathon also welcomes wheelchair entries as the route is one of the most flat courses in the UK and Ireland.
