Antonio Valencia backs Pervis Estupinan for Manchester United transfer

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has backed Pervis Estupinan to make a move to Old Trafford.

United are one of the sides to have been linked with a move for Watford defender Estupinan when the summer transfer window finally opens.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form this season while on loan at Osasuna with reports linking him with a permanent move in the coming months.

Estupinan is due to spend another season on loan at Osasuna before returning to Watford in 2021, however reports suggest the Premier League club could recall him this summer and cash-in on his form.

It seems unlikely United will move for the Ecuadorian this summer but he already has the blessing of compatriot Valencia.

"From here, I send all the positive energies to Estupiñán. Hopefully, it will happen,” El Telégrafo report him saying when asked about the rumour on Instagram.

Estupinan has already responded to his fellow Ecuadorian, thanking him for his support amid the rumours about his future.

"I’m proud to receive the blessings of a reference like you. A big hug," he replied.

Although the full-back does fit in with the ethos of signing top young talent at United, MEN Sport do not understand there to be any current interest in Estupinan.

It is also worth noting United ended their search for a new left-back late last year after the rise of Brandon Williams coupled with the rejuvenated form of Luke Shaw.
