Antonio Rudiger tells alleged racist Tottenham fan to get some "basic education"

Antonio Rudiger has told his alleged racist abuser to "get some basic education."

Chelsea defender Rudiger claimed he was abused during the Blues' 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

The Germany international told captain Cesar Azpilicueta about the attack by mimicking a racist gesture before cupping his ears.

Azpilicueta then followed protocol by informing referee Anthony Taylor - who passed a message to the fourth official to spend a message over the tannoy system, which was played three times.

Rudiger tweeted after the match: "Biiiiiiig Wiiin!"

It was accompanied with the hashtags: NoToRacism, PleaseGetSomeBasicEducation, AlwaysBelieve, Hustle, cleansheet."

Azpilicueta confirmed what happened on Sky Sports.

The Spaniard said: "It is very clear when we have meetings with Premier League and with referees before games we have been told to report any incident with racism happens straight away, to the ref.

"Toni came straight up to me and told me that he was hearing some racist songs about him.

"I reported to the ref immediately and then I left it to the ref to do his job.

"We are very concerned and aware of this behaviour and together we need to stop it."

Tottenham manager Mourinho added: "Someone told the ref about something. He followed the protocol, stopped the game and spoke to the players.

"Tottenham are a very proud club and we will deal internally with that.

"Every club is together on this situation."

Like Mourinho, Lampard was reluctant to get too deeply involved in discussion of the abuse allegedly aimed at Rudiger.

"My understanding is there was a racist comment or gesture," he said. "I haven't spoken fully to Toni about it but I know they're speaking to the officials as they should do.

"From our point of view, whether it's at Stamford Bridge or here or any stadium, we would absolutely want the right procedure in because we don't want to see that sort of stuff.

"We'll leave that to them to get on with."
