Antonio Rudiger, N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley - Who trained & who didn't ahead of Ajax vs Chelsea

There was a hint of good news for Chelsea as Antonio Rudiger participated in training ahead of their clash with Ajax on Wednesday.

The German international has yet to be in a matchday squad since he was substituted at half time against Wolves but Frank Lampard had noted he is making good progress and had been doing work outdoors with the physios.

Emerson Palmieri was also missing from the match day squad but was once again in training as he continues his recovery to match fitness, while Cesar Azpilicueta was present in training after his injury scare.

The Chelsea skipper went to ground in the dying moments against the Magpies and looked in some pain as he held his foot but looked fine in preparing for the Champions League.

N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen were all missing from Cobham's pitches and it now looks unlikely that Barkley will feature.

On Saturday Lampard said of the former Everton midfielder's knock: "It looks a bit nasty at first glance, but the doctor wants to have a look at tomorrow. I have no more on that.

"I genuinely don’t know [if he will be okay for Wednesday]. We will assess tomorrow."

Mateo Kovacic backed his appearance at the weekend, by once again training to show he is fully recovered from the knock he took in the international break.

Billy Gilmour was the only true youngster that trained with the first team on Tuesday but usual suspects Jamie Cumming, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Fikayo Tomori all trained.
