Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Friday, September 25.
Rudiger linked with move away
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger could reportedly leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the German international on loan as they eye defensive reinforcements following the departure of Thiago Silva.
Rudiger wasn’t included in Frank Lampard’s squad to face Liverpool last weekend and he also failed to make an appearance versus Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Given that Silva arrived from PSG earlier in the window, Rudiger could be unlikely to feature on a regular basis this season.
Agent issues update on Emerson future
Emerson Palmieri could be staying at Chelsea past next month’s transfer deadline despite uncertainty over his Blues future.
The arrival of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City has put the Italian’s future into question with very limited gametime seemingly on the horizon.
According to the left-back’s agent, no contact has been made from Juventus despite widespread reports.
“I always read that Emerson is close to Juventus, but I can reiterate that there have never been contacts in this transfer window with the Bianconero club," Emerson's agent told Tutto Juve .
“Right now it’s hard to talk about his farewell, the boy only thinks of Chelsea."
Mendy sent strong message after Chelsea arrival
New signing Edouard Mendy has been sent a strong transfer message by former England goalkeeper David James.
Mendy signed from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes on Thursday in a deal worth around £22million but James claims that Stamford Bridge isn’t the right environment for him to develop as a goalkeeper.
He told talkSPORT: “I studied Kepa before he came to Chelsea and he fascinated me.
“This guy was capable of making saves I hadn’t seen in the Premier League for a long time, top end stuff, proper, proper top end stuff.
“But then he would throw one in and I’d think, ‘OK, there’s a flaw here but if you get the right coaching and right environment for him, this guy could be the best goalkeeper in the Premier League’.
“And I’ve been in Kepa’s position, when I was at Liverpool I was that guy.
“In the end you have to look at yourself to see what you can do, but it’s also about whether you’ve got the environment.”
