Antonio Rudiger issues Chelsea contract update amid Bayern Munich and Real Madrid transfer links

Antonio Rudiger has said he is happy at Chelsea amid rumours that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid could make a move for the defender.

The Germany international's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with both player and club seemingly at an impasse over the 28-year-old's salary demands after beginning negotiations over a new deal at the start of the season.

Rudiger has become a crucial part of Thomas Tuchel's side and played more minutes than anyone else for the Blues so far this term.

The centre-back has enjoyed a resurgence since his compatriot took over from Frank Lampard, and appears content at Stamford Bridge.

In a press conference ahead of Germany's clash with Romania during the international break, Rudiger was asked if he had interest in returning to the Bundesliga.

He said: "I feel good where I am now. So that fits."

However, reports are growing that Los Blancos and Die Bayern have been monitoring his situation, with PSG also touted to be showing an interest.

"The interest honors me. That shows that I've done a few things right recently," the defender said when asked about Bayern's interest.

"But I don't let myself be distracted. I have an obligation to my club to perform well. I have to prove myself every game and not let myself be distracted by rumours. I make my decisions for myself. They don't depend on anyone. I feel good where I am."

Unless he agrees a contract in the meantime, Rudiger will be free to talk to other clubs from January, with just six months left on his deal.

However, the fan-favourite appears in no rush to force through a transfer of any kind.

Speaking in September, Rudiger suggested that he had only spoken to Chelsea about his future.

He said to SID, via Sky Sports Germany: "For me, this will now be the most important decision of my professional career. I have never spoken to any other club than Chelsea."
