Antonio Rudiger hits out at the racists with message after Chelsea's win over Tottenham

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has called on racists to get some basic education in a celebratory message following his team's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The German centre-back, who has suffered abuse in the past during his time playing for Roma in Serie A, tweeted a celebratory message to his official Twitter account following the game.

During the match, a total of three announcements were made over the public address system, the first of which warned fans that racist abuse was "interfering with the game."

Rudiger was seen gesturing to his captain Cesar Azpilicueta and referee Anthony Taylor over what he had heard from the stands. He appeared to be suggesting he had been subjected to monkey chants.

In his tweet the Chelsea defender wrote: "Biiiiiiig Wiiin!"

He also added a series of hashtags to the message: "#NoToRacism #PleaseGetSomeBasicEducation #AlwaysBelieve #Hustle #cleansheet."

The picture he selected for the tweet saw the German shoulder to shoulder with Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma at full-time.

Kick It Out, the anti-discrimination charity, released a statement following the match.

Speaking after the game, Azpilicueta revealed what his team mate had told him on the pitch.

"Toni came to me and told me there was some racism towards him so I just reported to the ref immediately," said the Spaniard.

"I left it for the ref to do his job because we are very concerned and very aware of this behaviour and altogether we need to make it stop."

In his post-match press conference Frank Lampard offered his support to Rudiger.

"All I know is that Toni Rudiger said he heard a racist chant towards him," said the Chelsea manager.

"I haven’t had an individual conversation with Toni. I have only addressed the group and a couple of the lads in doping.

"Of course I am going support Toni, as we would support any of our players or opposition players if this happens, whatever stadium it happens at. It needs to be dealt with.

"As I don’t know any more than that, we will wait for the process to happen."

Tottenham also released a statement on the incident to announce that they will launch an investigation into what happened during the match.
