Antonio Rudiger is set to undergo surgery to fix the knee injury the Chelsea defender picked up in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
He will undergo the operation in Rome, according to Gianluca Di Marzio , with the procedure focusing on the meniscus of his left knee.
Rudiger was helped off in the first off at Liverpool after suffering the injury and is not set to miss the rest of the season, with pre-season the likely aim for a return from injury for the 26-year-old.

He's been a vital part of Maurizio Sarri's side this season making 44 appearances and had become Sarri's preferred centre back option alongside David Luiz as the Blues chase fourth spot in the Premier League.
They will now have to face the final two games of the league campaign and the Europa League semi finals without him as he undergoes surgery to fix the problem he sustained at Old Trafford.
That means it looks likely that Sarri will call upon Andreas Christensen and David Luiz for Thursday night's semi final with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany as he looks to claim a place on the final of the competition.
Chelsea face Watford and Leicester City in their final two matches of the season and are two points ahead of Arsenal in the final Champions League spot and three ahead of Manchester United.
