Antonio Rudiger gives update on Chelsea future amid Bayern Munich and Real Madrid transfer links

Antonio Rudiger has confirmed that he is happy with Chelsea and that his agent and director of football at Stamford Bridge, Marina Granovskaia, have been in contact regarding a new deal.

The German has become a huge fan favourite under Thomas Tuchel but the Blues risk losing him to one of many interested parties should they fail to agree a new contract before the new year.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both said to be interested in signing the 28-year-old should he opt to leave west London for nothing come the end of the campaign.

But Rudiger has confirmed that he remains happy at the club and that Granovskaia has spoken to his agent about a new contract before.

“The most important thing is that I feel happy here,” Rüdiger said in an interview with the Guardian.

“I think if people look at it, they can see I’m happy. About the contract situation, I talk with the club. This is for nobody’s ears. It was how I said it would be after the Euros – there would be talks. There was a talk between Marina [Granovskaia, a Chelsea director] and my agent.

"We have the situation where we are at now and I have nothing to do with all the speculation. This is not in my mind. I’m focused on what I’m doing because this is why I wake up every morning.”

It is no surprise that Rudiger has become one of the most coveted defensive assets in the world of late.

At the end of September, former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand dubbed the German as the best in the top-flight since Tuchel took the reins at Chelsea.

"Ruben) Dias overall last season would have got the best defender in the league but since Tuchel has come I think he has been the most commanding centre back in the league," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"I think he’s been phenomenal. One of the main reasons they won the Champions League because without him I don’t think they do it."
