Antonio, Haller - latest West Ham injury news and returns ahead of Manchester City clash

West Ham picked up an injury concern over Michail Antonio during their stunning 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammers striker was substituted in the second half with a tight hamstring and was seen with an ice pack wrapped around his left leg as manager David Moyes said that taking the frontman off was merely a precaution.

In Antonio’s absence, West Ham conjured three goals in the final eight minutes of the game to come back from 3-0 down to secure an unlikely draw as Manuel Lanzini struck a spectacular 94th minute equaliser.

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane (2) had fired Spurs into a 3-0 lead inside 16 minutes before the Hammers got their act together, plugged away and battled their way to a point, Fabian Balbuena’s header and an own goal from Davinson Sanchez making it reducing the arrears to 3-2 in injury time.

Off the pitch, both Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks returned to the matchday squad having sat out recent games. Diop had missed the previous four games after testing positive for covid-19 while Fredericks suffered a hamstring injury during the 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

One player who wasn’t in the matchday 18 was Sebastien Haller, who picked up a knock in training on Friday and wasn’t risked, even though he was unlikely to start the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

West Ham face Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime as the tricky fixtures continue to come thick and fast for Moyes’ men, not that their current performances are showing they are in fear of anyone at the moment.
