Antonio Conte tipped for further Tottenham success - ‘The players follow him without problems’

Former Juventus caretaker manager Massimo Carrera has praised Antonio Conte following Tottenham’s dramatic win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Harry Kane’s late winner sparked scenes of pandemonium in the away end and breathed fresh life into Spurs’ Champions League push, having headed into what looked like a daunting trip to the Etihad in miserable form.

Prior to the win, Spurs had lost three League games on the bounce and Conte had frequently cut a gloomy figure on the touchline.

While the 52-year-old has stressed he is happy in his working relationship with those above him at Spurs, loses to Southampton and Wolves at home had threatened to derail their quest to break into the top four.

Promisingly, however, January signings Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have appeared to settle in well and Carrera - who worked with Conte during their time together in Turin - has backed him for his ability to connect with players.

“Conte manages to bring the team to a maximum level both mentally and physically,” he told Calcio Napoli 1926.

“The players follow him without problems because everything he says outside the green rectangle is then reflected on the pitch.”

Spurs remain seven points off of Manchester United in fourth, although Conte’s side boast three games in hand on both them and London rivals West Ham United.
