Nicolo Barella would 'only be open' to signing for Manchester United amid interest from Tottenham and their new manager Antonio Conte - according to reports.
The 24-year-old was part of the Inter Milan team - managed by Conte - that won a first Scudetto in over a decade during the 2020/2021 season.
Of course, the Italian manager has been appointed by Tottenham amid suggestions that he was being identified as a possible successor to under-pressure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Barella was a key part of that Conte line-up and also reigned supreme at Euro 2020 with Italy.
Following an initial loan, the central midfielder signed for Inter from Cagliari in September 2020 and has played 101 games for the Milan-based club in all competitions.
He has also been capped 33 times by Italy - scoring seven goals.
Identified as a target for the north Londoners under Conte - who replaced Nuno Espirito Santo after the heavy 3-0 defeat against United - Barella is only interested in Old Trafford as a destination should he eventually touch down in the Premier League.
That's according to a report from FC Inter News, via Sport Witness and this Hard Tackle article.
Elsewhere, key figures responsible for deals at the Old Trafford giants have identified Aurelien Tchouameni as their preferred replacement for Paul Pogba - who is now into the final year of his contract.
Speculation over the Frenchman and his United future hit fever pitch this summer.
Indeed, the player and 'super agent' Mino Raiola rejected new terms - worth around £50million - to extend his stay amid long-standing interest from PSG, Real Madrid and former club Juventus.

Pogba himself has been glowing in his praise for Tchouameni and his early impact with Les Bleus.
However, as per Football Insider, the 22-year-old Monaco starlet would be sworn in as a replacement for Pogba in the event of him leaving, on a free, for the second time.
That's despite some hope among United supporters they might have been paired together in the engine room.
