Antonio Conte suggests Thomas Tuchel doesn't understand how to use Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea slumped to their first back-to-back defeats under Thomas Tuchel last night at the hands of Juventus.

Federico Chiesa’s second-half strike was enough to seal the points for the Old Lady and put Juventus top of their group.

Chiesa’s brilliant, fast-paced goal only eleven seconds into the second half caught Chelsea flat-footed, in a game that Tuchel was hoping for a response from his team after a league defeat to Manchester City.

And record signingn Romelu Lukaku, having struggled for touches in the weekend loss, had few chances of note in Turin.

Lukaku has impressed in the Premier League since returning with the Blues in a club record deal from Inter Milan in the summer.

His return to Stamford Bridge came after Lukaku terrorised Serie A under ex-Blues boss Antonio Conte.

He scored 64 goals in two seasons at Inter Milan and was a vital part of their Scudetto winning team of last season.

His form was so good it earned him a £97.5million move back to the Bridge where he’s scored four goals in eight games.

However, despite an impressive start, former manager Conte believes that Chelsea still have not figured out how to best utilise the striker.

Talking to Sky Sports Italia , Conte said: “He still has room for technical improvement, but he has already reached very high levels.

“He can improve in some phases of the game, he needs to be switched on sometimes.

“He’s impressive, he’s one of the most difficult forwards to face: he always has to be played, but at Chelsea they don’t quite understand how to use him.

“If they understand, Chelsea will become the team to beat.”

Against Juventus, the Blues missed Mason Mount, with whom Lukaku has dovetailed smartly in the early weeks of his second stint in west London.

The Blues dominated possession with 73 percent of the ball, but only managed to register one shot on target.

They'll look to bounce back from back-to-back defeats this weekend, when they return to Premier League action against Southampton.
