Antonio Conte separates Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham team as star trains alone

By Darren Wells

Tanguy Ndombele has been separated from the rest of the Tottenham first team this week and forced to train alone amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

The midfielder has been linked with a transfer to Roma and could well be on his way after his latest actions attracted further ire from Spurs fans.

Ndombele was booed by Tottenham's own supporters as he slowly trudged off during the FA Cup win over Morecambe on Sunday - when Spurs were trailing 1-0.

Spurs fought back to win the game but Ndombele was nowhere to be seen at the final whistle, having already made his way down the tunnel after being replaced.

Now Football London reports that Ndombele has been training in solitude this week as the prospect of him leaving Tottenham gathers pace.

The £63million signing has emerged onto the training pitches with the rest of his teammates each day but not been part of their sessions.

Instead Ndombele has been training on his own with only a member of Spurs' sports science staff monitoring him.

Conte left Ndombele out of his squad for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday, and his response when asked why he omitted the Frenchman suggests a move could be imminent.

"It was a technical decision but before to take the decision, I don't take the decision if I don't consult the club," Conte said. "There is the club line and I have to follow the club line."

Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen to take Ndombele to the Stadio Olimpico despite slating him numerous times during his tenure in North London.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, Tottenham are happy for Ndombele to leave this month.

Napoli are also in the hunt for his services and are said to be planning a swoop before the January window closes, though a loan deal would be the most likely solution.

Ex-Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has given his two cents on the saga, and feels it might be better for all parties for Ndombele to move on.

"The situation for Tanguy Ndombele isn't good for him, and things clearly aren't working out,” Berbatov told Betfair.

“I've not seen him impress at Spurs and they spent a lot of money on him, I wasn't convinced when they spent that money and there haven't been any performances since he signed to change my mind. There's clearly an issue.

"It's never good to be booed by your own fans, that's terrible and the solution is very easy. If you're not happy, if you don't get the playing time you deserve you go and speak to the manager, Conte in this case, and see what your position is in the team.

"If you get assurances about more playing time then you start training hard and overcome these difficulties, if not then you want to leave. If he is to leave, hopefully Spurs recover some of their losses."
