Antonio Conte sent Tottenham warning by former Juventus man amid January transfer prediction

Antonio Conte has been warned that he potentially faces the "most difficult" challenge of his managerial career at Tottenham.

That's the view of former Italy forward Emanuele Giaccherini, who has had his say on the size of the task facing the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss in north London.

Conte recently took charge of Spurs as he succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo in the hotseat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Italian overseeing two games prior to the international break.

Tottenham won their first game under his management as they defeated Vitesse Arnhem 3-2 in the Europa Conference League, before then drawing 0-0 with Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

That has left Spurs ninth in the table after 11 games, four points behind north London rivals Arsenal and six behind the top four, as things stand.

But Giaccherini, who worked with Conte at Juventus between 2011 and 2013, says he feels his former manager has taken on a big job at Spurs.

“He doesn’t leave anything to chance, I’m happy for him because Tottenham is a great club, but it’s a challenge because there are three or four superior teams,” he told Calciomercato.

“It’s a very exciting challenge, he does it for his own growth, but surely Spurs have promised him something regarding the January market.

“He’s got Europe; he’ll do everything to go as far as possible. Then next year, starting from scratch, he will be able to narrow the gap with the first ones.

“Also, with a new market to be set up from the beginning, but at the moment, I see it as a very difficult challenge, maybe the most difficult of his career.”
