Antonio Conte's tactic trick inspires Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's crucial decision at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has survived to live another Premier League game at the helm of Manchester United and the baby faced assassin has everything to play for.

Having picked up just one point from a possible twelve, United fans have been left unhappy with the Red Devils' dwindling form and have begun plotting how their side can turn the tide.

Antonio Conte, who Manchester Evening News understand is open to the prospect of filling Solskjaer's shoes, has inspired the thought that United should experiment with a new look back-three formation.

The implementation of a back-three could be Solskjaer's final roll of the dice in a bid to save his job but in doing so he risks forcing several big names from his starting eleven.

Omar Garrick was joined by Casey Evans on the United on my Mind show streamed via Manchester Evening News' Facebook page as the pair discussed the prospect of a back-three system being implemented against Tottenham in light of Antonio Conte's links.

Evans kick-started proceedings by outlining his incline towards a back-three at United before noting which players would be the first names on the team sheet.

CE: "I would like to see three at the back. [Raphael] Varane is back in training so I think he'll play. I think we'll play probably [Harry] Maguire and [Victor] Lindelof, maybe [Eric] Bailey but I think Maguire in a three works. [Luke] Shaw even on the left-hand side [of the three].

"[Alex] Telles might get a game. If we're going to play three at the back then he lends himself to the wing-back role because as we've seen in the past Shaw can go forward but when he's given the entire left-hand side to deal with he does struggle."

Evans continued by detailing the back-three formation he would roll out at United which would see Bruno Fernandes shifted to the right of a front-three.

CE: "3-4-3 but I'd play Fernandes off the right because positions on the team sheet doesn't matter, it's how you tell the players to play.

" You can see he plays on the right but Fernandes naturally does, which we saw against Atalanta; the second goal came from a right-hand side cross where he overlapped the winger. He does like it and he's done it before at Sporting."

CE: "In the middle, I'd go with Fred and Donny van de Beek. I'm saying this because if you ever watch Scott McTominay play - it leans into the problems with Maguire and the backline.

"What seems to happen with this pivot that we have [Fred and McTominay] is that they don't understand spatial awareness and they don't understand what they need to do to create build-up play."
