Antonio Conte interest in Premier League return determined by these conditions at Newcastle United

Antonio Conte is understood to be interested in learning of the conditions involved at Newcastle United after being tipped to be the Middle East consortium's first managerial appointment.

Chronicle Live understands that Conte - who has been heavily linked to the Newcastle job - is open to a return to the Premier League.

And while it is widely known already in the football world that the Magpies are set to be given money to spend in the transfer market in January, the key element of the conditions for Conte are believed to be whether he has a big influence on recruitment.

Conte has not always had full control on transfers during his time at Chelsea and at his last post in Italy with Inter Milan.

The 52-year-old was sacked by Chelsea despite winning the Premier League and FA Cup and cost the Blues a cool £26million in compensation to pay him off early.

Conte won Serie A with Inter but quit after a bitter row over player sales as Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku were sold to PSG and Chelsea respectively, and top-notch replacements were not guaranteed.

As part of his agreement with Inter he can't return to work in Serie A until 2022.

Therefore, getting assurances ahead of a return to England would be vital to persuade him for another bite of the cherry in the Premier League.

Since leaving the San Siro the former Juventus boss has been linked with the Arsenal job while Barcelona have also been linked.

One possible snag for any club interested in Conte is that his preference is to start work at a club at the start of a new season.

That would be the starting point of negotiations for Newcastle if they opt for Conte and they may have to persuade him to start work with a chunk of the campaign already gone.

Newcastle's new owners opted for a day or two to allow the takeover announcement to settle down over the weekend after meeting staff on Friday morning.

Work has still been going on behind the scenes with Amanda Staveley's team still assessing their options after landing the club from Mike Ashley after a four-year control battle.

Current boss Steve Bruce has held brief talks with the Ripon financier with no decision made at the close of play on Friday.

It remains to be seen whether Bruce is in the dugout against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Should he get the nod to continue he will be taking charge of his 1,000 match as a manager.

With the international break in full swing, players were handed Friday, Saturday and Sunday off by Bruce.
