Antonio Conte 'incredibly interested' in Rangers as Ally McCoist reveals bond with next Tottenham boss

Ally McCoist has revealed Tottenham manager-in-waiting Antonio Conte wanted to know everything about Rangers when the club opened their doors to him and his Juventus side.

The Italian big-hitters were in Glasgow back in 2013 preparing for a last 16 Champions League clash with Celtic, as the Ibrox side made their Auchenhowie training base available.

Juventus thrived in Glasgow and secured a 3-0 win at Parkhead before cruising the return 2-0 to secure a comprehensive victory over Neil Lennon's side.

Then Rangers boss McCoist admits he was like a sponge watching the Serie A big-hitters, and insists the interest was reciprocated from the man who has won league titles with three different teams over the past decade.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "When he was manager of Juventus, he came up, he had a tie in Glasgow and he trained at Murray Park, I was manager of Rangers at the time.

"It was fascinating watching him. They had a training session, which I watched, it was great just to watch his Juve boys and how they would go about it.

"He was also incredibly interested in everything, believe it or not, that was going on at our place.

"I thought to myself 'this is a guy who wants to soak up all types of knowledge, he wants to learn', fascinating.

"I am really excited about the appointment, but if you asked me five weeks ago, there was no way that will happen."
