Antonio Conte heavily linked with Newcastle United following takeover of Magpies

Newcastle United are being heavily linked with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Reports in Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that the ex-Juventus head coach is a candidate to take over if the Magpies dispense of Steve Bruce's services.

The new Middle East consortium have arrived on Tyneside and are holding a series of meetings with staff including Bruce.

Former Liverpool and Rangers recruitment specialist Frank McParland is also thought to be under consideration for a role as football advisor.

Conte was front page news in Italy this morning with Newcastle's crest also featured on the famous pink sports newspaper.

Conte left Inter Milan last summer after leading them to the title.

He has also won Serie A with Juventus and guided Chelsea to the Premier League title and FA Cup during his time in England.
