Antonio Conte delivers honest verdict on Tottenham's transfer policy and hints at future plans

Antonio Conte has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur will continue to look to strengthen their squad in the transfer market if the right opportunity presents itself. The Italian wants the Lilywhites to be competitive in every competition they play in this season but has admitted that depth is needed for that to happen.

Daniel Levy has already sanctioned five signings with Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet all arriving this summer. Nevertheless, Conte has insisted that the club will try to make other signings if there is a chance to do so.

Speaking in his most recent press conference, he said: "We signed five players and when the ideas are very clear, I think also for the club it’s more simple to go in the transfer window to go and sign the players. It was very clear our plan and the positions that we needed to improve.

"We did it, I think the club worked very well in this window for every coach to have the player quickly, it’s very important with them.

"I think this was good to sign five players quickly and now we’ll see. We’re always looking to strengthen the squad if there is the opportunity. We want to improve numerically the squad because to play four competitions is difficult and you need a really good squad.

"It will be a really demanding season for us but I’m sure we want to enjoy this season, play four competitions and be competitive in every competition we play. Then we’ll see in two months, if there is the possibility to strengthen the squad, then we’ll do it."

Fans will be able to catch a glimpse of their new signings when Spurs take on Team K League in South Korea on Wednesday evening (12pm KO BST).
