Antonio Conte can help Paul Pogba fulfil own champion prediction at Manchester United

Antonio Conte might still help Paul Pogba fulfil the target he set for the Manchester United star in 2014.

Either side of his two spells at Old Trafford, the World Cup winner - now 28 - enjoyed four hugely successful years with Serie A giants Juventus.

Two of those seasons came under Conte, who signed Pogba on a free transfer from United in 2012. That partnership resulted in back-to-back Scudettos at a time when Juventus dominated the Italian game.

Pogba himself was crucial to the team - even being named Serie A player of the season in 2013/2014 - before manager Conte embarked on new adventures.

Since returning to Old Trafford in 2016, the 89-cap France international has struggled to consistently replicate the form which made him such a standout in Italy and with the France national team.

But is there still time for 'champion' Pogba to win big with United?

Pressure on current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has intensified over the last 48 hours as he continues to come to terms with a humiliating defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool - a result that could yet have repercussions on his position with the Premier League giants.

Conte has, meanwhile, been tipped as one potential successor which, in turn, would complete a Pogba reunion.

Speaking about his former player in 2014, the Italian said: "Pogba was definitely more solid in midfield, he fought for every inch defensively and I think this was a very important game [vs Torino] for him tonight.

Would you keep Pogba or let him go? Have your say in the comments section below.

"He's got great potential and could be a great player both offensively and defensively for Juventus. That's me saying this. Remember, I used to be up and down the field myself in my playing days.

"Paul can fulfil his potential and become a great champion. It's our duty to make him grow, in the right way, in order to understand the game and adapt to different situations."
