Antonio Conte could be about to cause Liverpool a new problem

In Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool know they have one of the world's best coaches.

And he's not alone in the Premier League, with rival Pep Guardiola leading Man City and Thomas Tuchel transforming Chelsea since he took charge earlier this year.

The managerial talent in England's top flight is extensive, and another set to join the party in Antonio Conte, who has made the switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning on the back of his 3-0 defeat to Manchester United over the weekend, with the Italian brought in as his replacement.

Much like Klopp, Guardiola and Tuchel, Conte is regarded as one of the very best around, and for good reason.

A Premier League winner who has also won the Serie A four times with two different clubs, Conte has delivered success at Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan in recent years.

The 52-year-old is fixed on the concept of a back-three system, having favoured 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 as his two most-used variations, and he's able to secure quicker results than most.

Klopp required time in order to shape his squad and playing style at Liverpool, and similar can be said for Guardiola at Manchester City, who finished third in his first season in charge.

That year, Conte lifted the Premier League title after his Chelsea outfit won 27 their 32 contests once switching from 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-3 in late September.

During his time at Chelsea, Conte beat Klopp's Liverpool just once, a 1-0 victory in May 2018, but also lost just one of his four games, drawing the other two.

He achieves such consistency by coaching a specific system and acquiring the right profiles to execute his demands on the field, with midfielders and forwards - such as Victor Moses, Ashley Young and Ivan Perisic - often retrained as wing-backs.

While in Milan, Inter finished fourth in the season before they appointed Conte, yet he managed to wrestle Serie A from the hands of Juventus after two years in charge, who had won each of the past nine league titles in Italy.

Inter ended the campaign with the second-best attack and the best defence last year, with players such as Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Achraf Hakimi and Nicolo Barella central to his approach.

With the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Sergio Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele at his disposal at Spurs, Conte could begin to climb the Premier League table sooner rather than later.

During his time in England's top-flight, Conte averaged 2.14 points per match compared to Klopp's 2.11 on Merseyside, with both coaches comparable when it comes to picking up wins.

Seven points is the gap between Liverpool and Spurs at the moment, but the two still have to meet twice this season with the first meeting scheduled for December 19th.

Klopp should have enough of a cushion to avoid competition from Conte for the rest of the current campaign but moving forward, he could restore Spurs into challengers.

The Reds will focus on themselves as normal but now Daniel Levy has secured his number one target, Liverpool could have yet another contender to overcome.
