Antonio Colak to Rangers transfer latest as PAOK identify striker replacement option from Germany

Rangers could land Antonio Colak in the coming days after PAOK Salonika secured a replacement striker ahead of his exit from the club, according to a report.

The 28-year-old striker is understood to have made a move to Ibrox his top choice this summer despite interest from the likes of former club Malmo, FC Copenhagen and La Liga outfit Real Mallorca. The Croatia cap has been identified as a key transfer target as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks to boost his attacking options. Last season the Light Blues suffered at the tail end of the campaign due to injuries to key pair Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe.

The Greek outfit were resistant on sanctioning a deal for the hitman to leave the club and join Rangers until they found a replacement - with that issue appearing to be resolved with Fortuna Dusseldorf striker Khaled Narey heading to the club.

Metrosport in Greece say there has been 'intense contact' between PAOK, Fortuna and the player and they claim a deal will be announced imminently.

That would free up Colak's switch to Ibrox and a move could escalate and be done in a matter of days as Van Bronckhorst looks to get a first summer signing over the line.

John Souttar arrived on a pre-contract agreement from Hearts at the end of the season but the Scotland international had already put pen to paper on the deal in January.

The Dutchman was handed a pre-season return boost by ever-present defender Connor Goldson who put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the club.

Veteran trio Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis have all signed on for a further season with the Ibrox faithful expecting more additions, including the signing of Colak.

Aaron Ramsey and Amad Diallo left following the expiry of loan deals while Leon Balogun was out of contract and not offered fresh terms.
