Antonio Colak tipped for Rangers goal glut as Jon Dahl Tomasson gives Celtic Champions League advice

Jon Dahl Tomasson has tipped his former striker Antonio Colak to be a goal-scoring success at Rangers. The Danish coach was Malmo boss a year ago when they knocked the Ibrox side out of the Champions League thanks to Colak's goals.

The Croatian front-man was snapped up from PAOK by gaffer Gio van Bronckhorst this summer. Dahl Tomasson is now Blackburn Rovers gaffer and left Glasgow with a 2-2 friendly draw against Celtic on Saturday.

Afterwards, he praised Colak and tipped him to get among the goals on the other side of the city. He said: "Colak is an excellent player and he made it tough for Rangers last season by scoring those goals at Ibrox.

"He is a great person, excellent for the dressing room as well, he always gives maximum effort. I think he will score goals for Rangers. He is a great team player and I like team players.

"He has a great attitude but it all depends on the manager. I know van Bronckhorst very well and he’s clever enough to make the right choices.”

Dahl Tomasson was also impressed by Celtic who led Rovers 2-1 until late on when Chile striker Ben Brereton-Diaz equalised from a free-kick. He managed Malmo in the Champions League last term and warned Ange Postecoglou's side that they'll have their work cut out in the group stage.

He said: “When you look at our budget at Malmo, we did the impossible when we qualified for the group phase. We had to get through four rounds against opponents who had been champions of their own country - and we were unseeded in the third and fourth.

“Playing in the Champions League itself is a great experience for the players, the club and the country because of the level of your opponents – that’s why it’s the best competition in the world.

"I think Celtic are a well-coached side with a lot of quality players. But at the end of the day, they will need to show that once the games start because it depends on who you're up against.”
